The Jerusalem Badatz Eida Chareidis has called for a public kabolas shabbos on Friday, Erev Shabbos parshas Re’eh at the intersection of Malchei Yisrael and Shivtei Yisrael Streets. Protests are also expected in the Meah Shearim/Geula areas on erev Shabbos.

It has been some time since the badatz has openly called for a mass Shabbos event. Shabbos protests are generally attended by a small number of individuals but this time, the Eida is calling on its tzibur to participate to protest the opening of the Yes Planet entertainment complex in the city.

The pashkavilim have been released and the call is one directed at the frum tzibur at large, citing “How can we remain silent as Shabbos Kodesh is being trampled!”

Names appearing on the pashkavilim include Eida Chareidis Gavaad HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Tuvia Weiss Shlita and Eida Chareidis Ravaad HaGaon HaRav Moshe Sternbuch Shlita.

In addition to the kabolas shabbos, efforts are ongoing to hold protests on erev Shabbos during the afternoon hours with an effort on preventing violence towards avoiding chilul Shabbos and a chilul Hashem.
